Sarooj Development is the residential arm of Sarooj Construction Company, an Omani contractor founded in 1976 and part of the Al Taher Group. For most of its history Sarooj has built infrastructure rather than homes: ports, roads, water treatment, power and oil and gas works across the Sultanate, including the Musandam Gas Plant, Shinas Port and the Nimr water treatment scheme, for clients such as Petroleum Development Oman, BP and Occidental. That is a real and long construction pedigree, and it is the strength a buyer can lean on. The qualification that matters is that residential development is new to it: Sarooj moved into housing only around 2023 to 2024, and Sarooj Oasis, which opened for sale in January 2025, is its first own-brand residential project. So the firm is an experienced contractor but a first-time developer, and that distinction is the central thing to weigh. Sarooj Oasis sits inside Sultan Haitham City, the Omani government’s new city near Muscat masterplanned by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill; foreign buyers can own there because the city is a government-designated area open to non-Omani ownership, not through the Integrated Tourism Complex route that some listings wrongly cite, and the exact ownership and residency terms should be confirmed case by case.
